MOM Haiti Update – 2011

My  apologies. Due to the major illness of my husband and our president,  I was unable to post regular updates on our websites.  But  God spared his life and he is recovering.  The year of 2010 was very challenging, but my faith has brought me to this time and I am excited about bringing our supporters and readers up to date.

The earthquake in January greatly affected the ministry.  Many lives were lost, and many were changed.  I am going to bring you up to date by using Smileboxes , audiovisual slide shows with music, of the various projects and events of MOM since our last post.

The first Smilebox, entitled “Birthday Celebration” was created by me on my 70th birthday to bring awareness to the plight of the villagers of  Petite Riviere  De Nippes in rural Haiti.  Our Solar Bakery is located there, and it is Haiti’s first commercial solar bakery!  The bakery compound sustained damage from the earthquake and Hurricane Tomas.  The photos will show some of the devastation sustained at the bakery.

Subsequent  Smileboxes, however, will show our progress in the repair and restoration  of our bakery enterprise in De Nippes.  The installation of our Satellite Internet has been very exciting because it uses human power to power the system! Other Smileboxes can be found under the various heading or pages listed on the tabs of this blog as well as new pages.  Please open them to see what we are doing and what is needed to continue to make a dent in the needs of the people we serve.

We look forward to your comments.  Please, please, please pass these Smileboxes along to friends and family to help us to help those who are in desperate need for economic development so that they can begin to support themselves through their own labor and efforts.  They just need the education and tools to begin using alternative and sustainable technologies to change their way of life positively.

I believe you will love the Smileboxes.  They are extremely informative and you can share them with your churches, synagogues, fraternities, clubs, etc.

So, sit back, put on your headphones turn up the volume and come with me to De Nippes!
